Shanghai-based Black Lake Technologies is shifting its focus toward industrial AI agents designed to automate factory workflows, including drawing interpretation, process planning, and scheduling. The company's CAD-to-Process Agent can analyze design files in approximately one minute with a reported accuracy exceeding 95%, significantly reducing manual processing time.
Founded in 2016 by CEO Zhou Yuxiang, the company initially focused on digital manufacturing platforms and data analytics. Over the past eight years, it has evolved from experimenting with blockchain and image recognition to deploying AI agents that capture and reuse human operational knowledge to improve production decision-making.
In April 2026, Black Lake secured nearly RMB 1 billion, equivalent to $140 million, in a Series D funding round. The company reports that it is currently profitable and experiencing annual revenue growth of over 60%. These funds are earmarked for accelerating the deployment of industrial AI and expanding its global footprint.
Black Lake currently serves over 100 international customers across more than 10 countries, including Indonesia, Vietnam, and Mexico. The company maintains a regional headquarters in Singapore to manage its operations in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, testing the adaptability of its Chinese manufacturing experience in diverse global markets.
To reach smaller manufacturers, the company is experimenting with non-traditional sales strategies, including hiring food-delivery riders to help distribute its AI products. This approach aims to bridge the gap in markets where traditional enterprise software sales teams face challenges in covering smaller industrial clients.
