Bedrock Robotics has secured $600 million in a Series C funding round. The investment was led by CapitalG, a fund managed by Alphabet, and Emergence Capital. Nvidia and Bessemer also participated in the round, alongside several other investors. Following this transaction, the company reports a valuation of nearly $1 billion.

The startup develops the Bedrock Operator, an autonomy module designed for excavators. The system allows construction vehicles to navigate sites and perform earthmoving tasks with minimal human intervention. The hardware includes a computing unit installed in the cabin and a roof-mounted sensor array featuring eight cameras and a lidar device.

The computing unit utilizes an Nvidia chip to process AI models for obstacle avoidance. To ensure navigation accuracy, the system incorporates an inertial measurement unit that corrects GPS signal errors caused by terrain or obstructions. This unit monitors the vehicle's orientation and movement data.

Bedrock Robotics recently began executing paid work on commercial construction sites. The company intends to use the new capital to scale its technology adoption and establish field service infrastructure. Future development plans include expanding the autonomous platform to support other types of construction machinery.
