Astranis has modified its existing launch agreement with SpaceX, upgrading the contract to a dedicated mission on a Falcon 9 rocket. The launch is scheduled for 2028 and will carry the entire Block 4 production run of the company's MicroGEO satellites.

The mission will deploy six MicroGEO satellites into geostationary orbit using an Impulse Helios upper stage. This addition will increase the total Astranis fleet to 16 satellites, following the 10 units already produced across the first three blocks.

The company has already secured initial customers for the Block 4 satellites, with further details to be disclosed later. This agreement builds upon an original contract signed in late 2024, granting Astranis full payload capacity for the mission.

Astranis currently maintains a backlog of commercial contracts exceeding $1 billion. The firm has raised over $1.2 billion in funding from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, BlackRock, and Fidelity, and employs a workforce of 500 people.
