Apple is set to unveil new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models at the upcoming Pro and Tell event. These devices will feature OLED XDR touchscreens and the Dynamic Island interface, marking the first time these technologies appear in the company's laptop lineup.

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 Pro chip is expected to start at $2899. This represents a $400 increase over the current M5 Pro model. Meanwhile, the 16-inch version is projected to start at a minimum of $3399, given the current non-touch base price of $2999.

With these price points, the 14-inch model would surpass the $2799 launch price of the 17-inch MacBook Pro from 2006, setting a new record for the series. Apple intends to keep non-touchscreen models available for purchase alongside the new hardware.

The company is positioning these laptops for professional content creators, influencers, and media editors. The launch event will take place in Los Angeles, where Apple aims to compete directly with high-end OLED-equipped laptops from manufacturers like Dell.
