Apple has scheduled a new event for October 13 in New York, titled Welcome home. The presentation is set to begin at 16:00 Moscow time. Marketing chief Greg Joswiak announced the gathering via a short video on X. Unlike traditional presentations at Apple Park, the company will host an Apple Experience event, allowing journalists to test new devices in person.
The primary expected announcement is the HomePad, a device with a built-in display designed to control smart home systems. It is intended to manage lighting, appliances, and security within the HomeKit ecosystem. Reports suggest the product has been in development for several years and may launch in two versions.
The company may also unveil an updated Apple TV 4K and a second-generation HomePod mini. References in the tvOS 27.2 beta indicate a feature that allows linking up to four HomePod speakers for surround sound. Additionally, Apple is collaborating with LG on smart doorbells and thermostats, though their release timeline remains uncertain.
Beyond the smart home focus, rumors suggest Apple will hold a second event later this month. This subsequent presentation is expected to feature new laptop models, specifically MacBook Pro devices equipped with OLED displays.
