Apple has officially released macOS Golden Gate, the latest operating system for Mac computers. The update focuses on integrating Siri AI, enhancing Apple Intelligence, and optimizing the Liquid Glass interface. A significant shift in this release is the complete discontinuation of support for Intel-based Macs, marking a transition to an exclusive Apple Silicon ecosystem.

Siri AI now features advanced conversational capabilities, contextual understanding, and cross-app task execution. The system includes Visual Intelligence for screen content analysis and expanded Apple Intelligence features in Safari, Photos, and Mail. Users can also leverage natural language commands to generate images via Image Playground and create automated shortcuts.

The update refines the Liquid Glass design by introducing a transparency slider and improving contrast for better readability. Apple has also optimized system performance, focusing on faster file transfers, improved AirDrop speeds, and more responsive network browsing. These changes aim to enhance overall system efficiency and user experience.

While macOS Golden Gate ends support for Intel hardware, Apple will continue providing security updates for legacy Intel Macs for several years. The system retains the Rosetta translation layer, allowing Apple Silicon Macs to run older Intel-based applications. This release aligns with the broader rollout of version 27 across iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS.
