Apple has officially launched its major 2026 software updates, including iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27. The central addition is Siri AI, a context-aware assistant capable of analyzing screen content, searching personal history, and interacting with third-party applications. A dedicated Siri app is now available across all platforms except tvOS.
The AI functionality relies on the AFM 3 model family. On-device capabilities are powered by AFM 3 Core with 3 billion parameters and AFM 3 Core Advanced, a 20 billion-parameter model using sparse architecture. Cloud-based tasks are handled by AFM 3 Cloud, ADM 3 Cloud for images, and AFM 3 Cloud Pro. Users can also generate Safari extensions and Shortcut automations via text prompts.
Updates to macOS Golden Gate and iOS 27 introduce a slider to adjust Liquid Glass transparency. macOS now features full HDR support for UI elements and enhanced external monitor compatibility. VisionOS receives the new Thórsmörk virtual environment, improved screen recording features, and various user experience refinements.
System requirements for these updates vary. iOS 27 is compatible with iPhone 11 and newer, but Siri AI features require an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 and later. macOS Golden Gate is limited to M-series Macs. Notably, this is the final macOS version to support Rosetta, though Apple has provided an exception for legacy Intel-based games.
