Apple's new HomeView smart home hub features the A18 chip and supports the next-generation Siri powered by Apple Intelligence. Despite its independent processing capabilities, the device cannot fully function as a standalone AI terminal for all tasks.
Users who wish to access personal data, such as calendar entries or text messages, or perform cross-app operations based on personal context, must pair the HomeView with an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence and has the new Siri enabled.
The device utilizes facial recognition to identify family members and display personalized interfaces. However, accessing private information requires the paired mobile device to be in an available state to verify user identity and access permissions.
Apple has restricted the availability of HomeView in the European Union because the next-generation Siri is currently not supported on iOS and iPadOS in that region. The company is working on a solution but has not provided a release date for the EU market.
