Apple is reportedly considering a return to the server market to address the rising demand for computing power in the artificial intelligence sector. The company, which discontinued its Xserve line in 2011, aims to leverage its ARM-based M-series processors for enterprise-grade hardware.
According to reports, the upcoming server hardware may be powered by two or four M8 Ultra chips. While Apple recently introduced the M6 chip in August, the new server product is not expected to launch until 2029.
The project could involve a partnership with Nvidia to integrate NVLink Fusion technology. This solution allows multiple chips to function as a single unit, potentially deepening the collaboration between the two companies, which already use Nvidia hardware for Siri servers.
