AMD has released version 2.4 of its FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) software development kit. This update marks the first time the Redstone feature set is available for the Vulkan graphics API, providing it with super resolution and frame generation capabilities previously exclusive to DirectX 12.

The company clarified that Vulkan games currently utilizing FSR 3.1 for image upscaling or frame generation will not automatically upgrade to the new machine learning-based features. These specific enhancements remain restricted to DirectX 12 titles.

The SDK 2.4 update introduces support for FSR Super Resolution 4.1.2 on AMD Radeon RX 6000 series discrete graphics cards and various Ryzen APUs. Hardware compatibility varies, as Radeon RX 6000 and Ryzen AI Max processors utilize the same INT8 model found in the Radeon 7000 series, while other APUs rely on a smaller, optimized model.
