Amazon is scaling the deployment of smart glasses for its delivery personnel, with over 275,000 deliveries already completed using the technology. The company plans to make the devices available throughout 2027. The system is designed to assist couriers by displaying package information, walking directions, and safety alerts directly in their field of view, reducing the need to check handheld devices.

The hardware setup includes a controller integrated into the courier's vest, which houses the controls, a swappable battery, and an emergency button. The glasses support both prescription and photochromic lenses. The system utilizes a combination of computer vision, cameras, AI-powered assistance, and precise geolocation to help drivers locate packages within their vehicles and navigate to the final destination.

Participation in the program remains optional for both delivery service partners and their employees. Amazon previously conducted tests with more than 12 partners and hundreds of couriers across the United States. While the company has confirmed the scale of use, it has not yet disclosed comparative data regarding delivery speed, recognition accuracy, or incident rates.
