The Also TM-B electric bike, a project from the Rivian micromobility spinoff, is facing significant shipping delays. Initially scheduled for delivery in spring 2026, the timeline was pushed to summer, and the product has yet to reach customers as fall approaches.
Product manager Saul Leiken cited supply chain constraints caused by the AI boom as a primary factor. The company is struggling to source sufficient printed circuit boards and integrated circuits, forcing the team to seek alternative materials that require additional testing.
Regulatory hurdles have also impacted the project. The bike's 240W power delivery exceeds current guidelines, necessitating collaboration with standards groups to establish new safety protocols. The TM-B features battery options of 538Wh or 808Wh, aiming for a 100-mile range.
The complex DreamRide pedal-by-wire drivetrain, which lacks a mechanical connection between pedaling and movement, requires high-precision manufacturing. This complexity has slowed the production ramp-up as the company prioritizes quality standards over speed.
In a public statement, Leiken apologized for the lack of communication regarding these setbacks. He emphasized that the company chose to maintain strict quality standards rather than rushing an unfinished product to market.
