The Series A funding round was led by PXN Ventures. Existing investors Northern Gritstone and Parkwalk also participated in the transaction. The capital will support the development of virtual heart models and the expansion of the platform into neurovascular devices, such as flow diverters for brain aneurysms.
Founded in 2024 by Sheena Macpherson, Dr. Nishant Ravikumar, and Dr. Zeike Taylor, the startup provides the Virtual Chimera platform. This tool uses generative AI and physics-based simulations to create virtual hearts and blood vessels from anonymized clinical scans. It allows manufacturers to test medical devices across diverse patient populations.
The technology helps companies assess implant performance before clinical trials. It accounts for variables like age, sex, ethnicity, and body size. By providing additional evidence, the platform aims to reduce reliance on animal testing and help manufacturers refine trial strategies. The company plans to increase its workforce as it enters new therapeutic areas.
