AcademyAI has secured £1.65 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round. The investment was led by Nexus Family Office and Panthera Family Office. The company plans to use the capital to scale its platform and enhance its training capabilities as corporate AI adoption grows.

The startup, co-founded by Alex Packham, Andy Lambert, Michael Walton, and Rob Barnett, focuses on closing the gap between the deployment of tools like ChatGPT and Copilot and the actual proficiency of employees. It addresses the challenge where companies provide AI access without knowing if staff can utilize it effectively.

The platform utilizes a six-axis AI capability framework, developed in collaboration with the Alan Turing Institute. It evaluates critical thinking, judgement, prompting, and practical skills. Based on these assessments, the system delivers personalized learning through five-minute modules tailored to specific roles and organizational contexts.

To ensure content remains relevant as AI practices evolve, the platform uses underlying AI models to generate and update training materials. For management, it provides dashboards to track skill development across teams and departments, allowing leaders to identify capability gaps and measure the return on their AI investments.
