Rosatom has initiated six projects to develop quantum sensors for navigation, geology, and telecommunications, aiming to deploy experimental prototypes by 2030.
Researchers at the University of Twente have created a quantum magnetic sensor capable of operating in fields up to 1 Tesla, 20,000 times stronger than Earth's magnetic field.
DARPA has successfully tested the Lumberjack quantum compass, a navigation system that determines location using the Earth's magnetic field without relying on GPS satellites.
The US Department of Defense tested the MagNav system, allowing aircraft to navigate using the Earth's magnetic field instead of GPS.
