Wang Teng, founder of Yixiu Technology, addressed recent claims regarding his stance on smart ring materials. He clarified that he does not categorize all smart rings using plastic inner rings as overpriced or useless products, urging media outlets to avoid taking his previous comments out of context.
The executive explained that while plastic inner rings are cheaper and offer a different tactile experience compared to dual-titanium designs, they remain a valid manufacturing choice. He compared this to the difference between plastic and metal frames in smartphones, noting that different products serve different market segments.
Wang Teng previously suggested that consumers should prioritize rings featuring titanium on both the inner and outer surfaces for better quality. He clarified that the term 'overpriced' specifically applies to rings that combine low-cost plastic construction with claims of unrealistic or irrational features.
The company founder emphasized that the smart ring industry is still in its early stages. He compared the current market landscape to the early days of the mobile phone industry, suggesting that increased consumer awareness and better discernment will help foster healthier development across the sector.
