XPeng has officially named its Robotaxi service XPENG YOYO. The company also launched a dedicated mini-program that allows users to remotely control in-car settings, including temperature, fragrance, and music preferences during the beta testing phase.
The company's progress in autonomous driving includes receiving a road testing permit in Guangzhou in January and establishing a dedicated Robotaxi business unit in March. By May, the first mass-produced XPeng GX Robotaxi rolled off the assembly line, with internal testing beginning in July.
CEO He Xiaopeng reported that the second-generation VLA-equipped vehicles have completed over 2,000 internal test orders in Guangzhou. The company aims to launch driverless passenger operations by next year and plans to introduce a new vehicle model specifically designed for Robotaxi services.
Regarding financial goals, XPeng expects its Guangzhou Robotaxi operations to reach break-even status by the second half of 2027. The company emphasizes that profitability depends on vehicle density within specific operating zones rather than total fleet size, suggesting that hundreds of vehicles could suffice in smaller cities.
