XPeng has officially launched an automated production line for its IRON humanoid robot, marking a transition from research and development to mass manufacturing. The company designed the facility internally, utilizing systems adapted from automotive production. Over 80% of the core assembly processes are now automated.
The IRON robot features 76 degrees of freedom and is powered by three Turing AI chips, delivering 2,250 TOPS of computing power. The onboard physical AI model enables the robot to perceive its environment and execute tasks autonomously without remote human intervention.
The robotics division recently secured over $900 million in a funding round, reaching a post-money valuation exceeding $6.3 billion. The round was led by IDG Capital and Gaorong Capital, with additional strategic investments from Tencent and Alibaba.
XPeng plans to scale production of the IRON robot by the end of 2026, with commercial deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027. The company intends to deploy the robots initially for repetitive or hazardous tasks before expanding their operational scope.
