Xpeng has officially named its new robotaxi model Xpeng Yoyo, marking a key step in the company's transition toward commercializing its autonomous mobility business. The vehicle is based on the company's flagship GX SUV and is designed to meet Level 4 autonomous driving standards. It utilizes a vision-only system that operates without LiDAR or high-definition maps.

The robotaxi is equipped with 4 in-house Turing AI smart driving chips, providing 3,000 TOPS of computing power. Its autonomous decision-making is powered by the second-generation Vision-Language-Action model, known as VLA 2.0. Xpeng has also announced plans to open its robotaxi software development kit, with Amap serving as the first global ecosystem partner.

The company has completed more than 2,000 internal test rides in Guangzhou. Development of a cloud-based remote takeover platform is finished, and Xpeng aims to launch passenger services without safety drivers by 2027. The company plans to collaborate with major Chinese and international mobility platforms to expand its operations both domestically and overseas.

Xpeng's timeline for the project includes announcing plans in November 2025, starting road tests in January 2026, and rolling out mass-produced vehicles in May 2026. Internal ride testing began in July 2026, with CEO He Xiaopeng participating in the first test ride. The company intends to generate revenue through vehicle sales, technology services, and operating revenue shares.
