Xpeng has finished trial production of its G9L flagship SUV at the Magna Steyr facility in Graz, Austria. The milestone was reached on October 7, 2026, marking the fourth model the company has assembled locally in Europe. The vehicle will now undergo a 1,324-kilometer test drive from Graz to Paris to evaluate its performance, safety, and charging capabilities.
The G9L is scheduled for a global premiere in Paris on October 12. Xpeng plans to introduce the model to 64 countries and regions worldwide. While the company has confirmed the trial production, it has not yet provided a timeline for the start of mass production or deliveries in Europe, nor has it specified which powertrain options will be manufactured at the Austrian plant.
The partnership with Magna Steyr began in September 2025, when Xpeng started local production of the G6 and G9 SUVs. In January 2026, the company also completed trial production of the P7+ sedan at the same site. The G9L, launched in China on September 17 as a 5-seat flagship, is also being prepared for right-hand-drive markets, with shipments to Australia already underway.
