Xiaomi has launched the Smart Camera 5 Pro Full-Color Night Vision, a home security device capable of capturing color video in total darkness. The camera features dual lenses with 8 MP and 4 MP sensors, supporting 4K resolution. It utilizes a combination of high light sensitivity, built-in illumination, and AI algorithms to maintain color footage at night.
The device is equipped with a local AI processor delivering 1.5 TOPS of computing power. This allows for on-device analysis, including human and pet detection, as well as baby cry monitoring, without relying on cloud processing. The camera includes a dual-motor mechanism for 360-degree horizontal rotation and a 174-degree vertical field of view.
Connectivity is provided by dual-band Wi-Fi 6, which Xiaomi claims offers a 60% increase in data transfer speed compared to previous models. The camera supports two-way audio and integrates with the Mijia smart home ecosystem. Storage options include microSD cards, cloud services, and local NAS devices, with an AOR mode to optimize power and storage usage.
Privacy features include a physical lens cover and local data processing. The camera is currently available for pre-order via a crowdfunding campaign at a starting price of ¥429, which is approximately $65.
