The new 20-inch Mijia Metal Suitcase from Xiaomi is now available for crowdfunding on the Youpin platform. The device is priced at ¥1699, which is approximately $255. The company plans to begin shipping the product to customers on October 29, 2026.
The suitcase features a shell made of a 5000-series aluminum-magnesium alloy, while the internal frame utilizes a 6000-series aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy. The manufacturing process involves 150 stages and results in a rivet-free design. Users can choose between silver and titanium color options.
The mobility system includes HINOMOTO swivel wheels with metal bearings and a 6 mm shock-absorption system. According to the manufacturer, the noise level during operation is capped at 43 dB. Testing indicates the wheels can travel up to 72 km with less than 2 mm of tread wear.
The telescopic handle is crafted from aluminum alloy and offers four height settings. Its grip is finished with microfiber synthetic leather, and the mechanism has been tested for 18 000 cycles. The suitcase provides a 37-liter internal capacity divided into two compartments.
The interior lining features an antibacterial fabric designed to suppress up to 99% of common bacteria. Additional security and convenience features include a TSA-approved combination lock that controls both latches, soft-return handles, and electroplated hinges.
