Xiaomi has launched the Smart Socket 4, a new smart plug that connects directly to Wi-Fi 6 networks without requiring a separate gateway. The device supports MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies, allowing users to manage appliances remotely via the Mi Home application.
The product is currently available on the Xiaomi Youpin crowdfunding platform for ¥49, which is approximately $7. The fundraising campaign is scheduled to conclude on September 16.
The socket features an integrated chip for monitoring power consumption, providing users with daily, weekly, and monthly usage statistics. It also supports automated scenarios within the Xiaomi Surge Smart Connect ecosystem, enabling integration with other company devices.
Local functionality is a key feature, as the timer and countdown settings continue to operate even without an internet connection. Users can also trigger a pre-set countdown timer by double-pressing the physical button on the device.
