Xiaomi has introduced a new feature for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, allowing users to generate custom mini-applications for the device's rear display using artificial intelligence. This capability moves beyond static wallpapers or pre-installed widgets, enabling the creation of tools tailored to specific user needs.
The company demonstrated several examples of these AI-generated tools, including timers for cooking or work, hydration reminders, language learning aids, and recipe cards. Users can pin these custom applications directly to the rear screen to integrate them into their daily routines.
This update builds upon the rear display technology first featured in the Xiaomi 17 Pro, released one year ago. According to official company data, users interacted with the previous generation's cards over 4 million times daily, while adding more than 3.5 million wallpapers every day.
Xiaomi aims to transform the auxiliary display into a flexible, adaptable interface. To support this, the company has partnered with content creators to develop additional use cases for the screen, allowing users to customize functionality based on their personal habits rather than relying on a fixed set of features.
