The X Layer network, an Ethereum layer 2 solution developed by the exchange OKX, recorded a $32 million increase in the market capitalization of its tokenized stocks over the past seven days. This growth represents the third-largest gain among all blockchain networks during the same period.
Tokenized equities were introduced on X Layer on June 15, 2026, starting from zero. The network utilizes xStocks, which issues tracker certificates backed 1:1 by real shares. By September 12, 2026, the market cap reached approximately $91.5 million, rising to nearly $200 million by October 16, 2026.
As of late October 2026, estimates for the total market cap of tokenized stocks on X Layer range between $259 million and $304 million. The broader xStocks ecosystem, distributed across multiple chains, reached a market cap of $1 billion by late October 2026, with cumulative trading volume totaling $2 billion.
In early October 2026, OKX and the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) filed a joint venture proposal with the SEC to list 63 tokenized US stocks, including Nvidia, Tesla, and Apple, for 24/7 trading. Additionally, the network plans to launch permissioned Uniswap V4 pools for restricted access trading.
