Waymo is preparing to launch its fully autonomous ride-hailing service in Spain, starting with the Madrid region. The company has set a target to welcome its first passengers in 2027.

In the coming days, electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles will begin appearing on Madrid streets. The rollout follows a phased approach, starting with manual driving to validate the system against local traffic conditions.

The company is coordinating with national and local authorities and emergency services to integrate its technology. Waymo is also investing in local operations and partnerships to support the service.

Waymo reports that its autonomous system has completed over 20 million trips and covers hundreds of thousands of commercial rides weekly. The company claims 400 million kilometres of autonomous driving.
