Jordi Visser, founder of Visser Labs and former executive at Morgan Stanley and Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers, suggests that cryptocurrencies may offer higher returns than AI-focused stocks. He argues that AI agents are increasing the demand for crypto payments and tokenized assets.
Visser has diversified his portfolio beyond Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana into a wider range of tokens. He currently tracks an index consisting of 42 tokens and four public stocks, noting that this basket has outperformed Bitcoin since June.
The investor highlights that AI agents could function similarly to the App Store or smartphones for the crypto industry. He specifically notes that projects focusing on privacy and identity, such as Zcash and Monero, align with his investment thesis regarding future digital security needs.
Visser remains cautious about the AI stock market due to high volatility and significant capital expenditure requirements. He cited Oracle's fiscal 2026 spending of $55,7 billion against $32 billion in operating cash flow as an example of the financial pressure on AI infrastructure.
Despite his bullish stance on crypto, Visser warns that a severe downturn in the AI sector could negatively impact equity markets and lead to a retest of recent lows. He continues to monitor Dogecoin as a key indicator of retail investor sentiment.
