Walapay Inc. has secured $4,6 million in a seed funding round led by Generative Ventures. The capital will be used to expand the company's licensing footprint and strengthen its banking partnerships. The startup focuses on providing global payment infrastructure for local businesses by utilizing stablecoins for account issuance and payouts.

The round saw participation from several investors, including Commerce Ventures, Rally Cap VC, Polygon, Verda Ventures, NGC Ventures, FGV Capital, Digital Finance Group, Knollwood, and Big Brain Holdings. The company plans to grow its team to support financial institutions and customers transitioning to modern payment systems.

Founded by Tom and Dimitri Borgers, Walapay uses blockchain technology and a single API to facilitate cross-border transactions. The platform aims to bypass traditional banking intermediaries that often add fees and delays. It currently provides direct integrations in regions such as Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

The platform offers instant settlement for multicurrency accounts and real-time operations in emerging markets. It also supports custody services for clients managing digital assets. Furthermore, Walapay is positioning its infrastructure to serve AI-native commerce, allowing autonomous agents to conduct financial transactions using the same tools as fintech firms.
