Volkswagen Group China has officially launched its integrated technology matrix, VEGA, during the company's inaugural Technology Day. The platform focuses on three core pillars: vehicle platforms, electronic and electrical architecture, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
The VEGA matrix is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the Chinese market, emphasizing local development and iterative capabilities. Volkswagen states that this initiative will improve cost efficiency and allow the company to respond more rapidly to local customer needs.
With the introduction of VEGA, Volkswagen Group claims to be the only foreign automaker in China to possess a locally developed, proprietary technology matrix. The company aims to leverage these developments to accelerate innovation and potentially export these technologies to global markets.
CEO Oliver Blume highlighted that China is becoming a vital hub for the group's product and technology development. By strengthening its local R&D capabilities, Volkswagen intends to integrate intelligent and electric vehicle technologies into its future global product lineup.
