Volkswagen has updated the specifications for its upcoming ID. Polo GTI electric vehicle ahead of initial deliveries. Following feedback from potential customers, the manufacturer increased the top speed from 175 km/h to 190 km/h. The WLTP-rated maximum range has also seen a slight improvement, rising to 431 km.

The vehicle, which opened for pre-orders in Germany on October 7, starts at €39,995. Standard equipment includes a lowered suspension, adaptive dampers, and a progressive steering system. Drivers can use a dedicated GTI button on the steering wheel to adjust power, steering, suspension, and sound settings simultaneously.

The electric model features a front-mounted motor delivering 223 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a 52 kWh battery. It achieves 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.8 seconds. The system supports a peak charging power of 105 kW, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in 24 minutes.

Optional features for the ID. Polo GTI include front seat massage, a panoramic sunroof, and a 425W Harman Kardon audio system. Volkswagen has also developed specific high-performance tires for the 19-inch wheels to improve cornering speed and grip.

Looking ahead, the company plans to release a more powerful ID. Polo GTI Clubsport variant. This version is expected to produce approximately 282 horsepower and may feature a mechanical limited-slip differential, simulated paddle shifters, and a stiffer, lower suspension setup.
