Vinci Concessions, in partnership with Épopée Gestion and ADEME Investissement, is launching a fast-charging network for electric trucks under the Voltix brand. The project is backed by an investment of nearly €90 million, with additional support from the EU CEF-AFIF program. The initiative focuses on building infrastructure along key freight corridors.
The first phase includes approximately 20 locations, primarily in France. The inaugural charging park is scheduled to open in autumn 2026 in Vierzon. These sites will utilize megawatt charging systems, allowing trucks to gain 4.5 hours of driving range in under 45 minutes. The network design aims to align with mandatory driver rest periods.
Voltix plans to expand the network into Germany and Spain to create a cross-border corridor. In Germany, the company is already participating in a government project through a consortium with Eliso. This project involves 25 sites as part of a broader plan to establish 350 locations with approximately 4,200 charging points across German motorways.
The German infrastructure project includes plans for 1,800 MCS and 2,400 CCS charging points. While Vinci has not disclosed specific capacity details for the French sites, the company notes that heavy-duty vehicle charging requires larger parking areas and higher connection capacities compared to passenger car infrastructure.
