Munich-based startup Vaeridion has secured €30 million in a Series A2 funding round led by SHIFT Invest and Invest-NL. Existing investors, including World Fund, Project A, and Vsquared Ventures, also participated alongside Alexander Rittweger. This capital brings the company's total funding to approximately €60 million.
The European Commission has selected the company's CAROLUS project for a grant of €94.5 million from the EU Innovation Fund. This funding, which awaits a final agreement expected in 2027, will support the establishment of a final assembly line at Oberpfaffenhofen Airport and the ramp-up of series production.
Vaeridion is developing the Microliner, a fully electric regional aircraft designed for up to nine passengers. The aircraft aims for a range of 400 km under instrument flight rules and up to 550 km with four passengers under visual flight conditions. A cargo version is also in development.
The company has completed its Preliminary Design Review and a second Pre-Application Contract with EASA. Technical development includes a modular battery system and multiple electric motors. A ground test rig, the Copper Bird, is currently being prepared for the integration of battery packs and the powertrain.
Vaeridion has secured purchase commitments for over 130 aircraft, valued at more than €730 million. The ASL Group is confirmed as the first customer, while companies such as KLM, BayernLB, and TrueNoord provide support through a Market Advisory Committee.
