San Francisco-based TypeSafe AI is in talks to raise over $1 billion in new funding. The startup is targeting a valuation exceeding $10 billion, a significant increase from its $200 million post-money valuation established during a $40 million seed round on September 15, 2026.
The seed round was led by DCVC. Following the company's exit from stealth, the team released its Jev model. Within 24 hours of the launch, Vercel reported more than double its typical paid account sign-ups, while a launch video on X reached 40 million views in less than a week.
The Jev model is designed for structured decision-making rather than conversation, providing calibrated confidence scores. It offers latency between 70 and 500 milliseconds. The cost for Jev is $0.042 per million input tokens, which the company claims is lower than current frontier LLM pricing.
TypeSafe AI was co-founded by Diogo Almeida, Erik Gafni, and Sasha Sheng. According to DCVC general partner James Hardiman, the startup is currently generating profits due to its low inference costs. The company has confirmed substantial investor interest since the launch.
