TypeSafe AI has secured $870 million in a funding round that brings the company valuation to $7.5 billion. The investment was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with additional backing from Sequoia and existing investor DCVC.

The startup launched its Jev model on September 15. According to the company, one-third of Fortune 500 firms have already adopted the technology for their operations.

Jev utilizes a transformer architecture but does not function as a large language model. Instead of generating text, the system produces calibrated decisions represented as probabilities.

The company claims the model operates faster and consumes fewer tokens than traditional LLMs. It is designed specifically for task automation rather than text or code generation.

TypeSafe was established in 2024 by co-founders Diogo Almeida, formerly of OpenAI, along with Sasha Sheng, a former Meta research engineer, and engineer Erik Gafni.
