Tuya Smart showcased its new Doova home companion robot at the 5th Global Digital Trade Expo. The device is specifically designed to assist elderly people living alone by providing companionship, daily reminders, and emergency alert functions.
The robot is capable of moving around the house, engaging in conversations, and integrating with smart home ecosystems. Users can control devices like air conditioners, humidifiers, and audio-visual systems through voice commands, such as announcing their arrival home.
In emergency situations, such as a fall, the robot can be activated by voice. It then assesses the situation and contacts family members or relevant institutions. If the user is unable to call for help, the system can also trigger alerts based on data from connected smartwatches or bracelets.
While the robot is currently unable to perform household chores, Tuya Smart is working on its development. The company has not yet finalized the official retail price or the release date for the product.
Tuya Smart PR Director Qian Xiaoyu stated that the company aims to position the robot's price within the range of a typical smartphone. However, the exact cost remains undetermined at this stage.
