Donald Trump announced plans to establish a new structure called AI Force and appoint an AI czar. The primary objective of these initiatives is to support industry development while monitoring potential risks associated with artificial intelligence applications.

The administration has not yet disclosed specific timelines, the organizational structure, or the operational mechanisms for these new roles. Trump has previously expressed opposition to additional federal regulations, arguing that existing legal frameworks are sufficient to address potential violations.

The position of AI czar is not entirely new to the current administration. David Sacks was appointed to a similar role covering both AI and cryptocurrency in December 2024. In March 2026, Sacks transitioned to a position within the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.

Sacks has publicly advocated for developer accountability regarding product safety. Like the president, he has maintained that the introduction of new federal rules for the artificial intelligence sector is unnecessary.
