TRL11 has secured a NASA contract to develop imaging systems for the Space Reactor-1 Freedom mission. The company will provide specialized space cameras and edge computing hardware to capture, process, and store high-resolution imagery during the flight to Mars.
The mission, valued at $2 billion, is scheduled for launch in late 2028. It aims to demonstrate fission-powered propulsion for interplanetary travel. The spacecraft will also carry three SkyFall helicopters to Mars to assist in preparations for future crewed missions.
The imaging hardware from TRL11 will document key mission events, including the deployment of the SkyFall helicopters. NASA is currently evaluating the integration of additional TRL11 technologies into the mission architecture.
