Hanoi Transport Corporation, known as Transerco, has transitioned bus route 40 to an all-electric fleet. The service now utilizes 15 VinFast EB8 electric buses, which replaced an equal number of diesel vehicles. The route connects Thong Nhat Park in central Hanoi to Van Lam in Hung Yen province.
The VinFast EB8 is an 8.6-meter midibus featuring a 200 kW electric motor and a 359 kWh LFP battery. The vehicle offers a range exceeding 290 km and supports DC fast charging up to 120 kW. Each bus accommodates 60 passengers and includes low-floor access for accessibility.
This transition is part of a larger electrification strategy by Transerco. In October, the company introduced 94 electric buses across six existing routes and one new service. Earlier in April, the operator deployed 120 electric buses across seven additional routes in the capital.
Transerco aims to ensure that more than 51 percent of its bus fleet consists of environmentally friendly vehicles by the end of 2026. These efforts align with Hanoi's broader initiative to lower public transport emissions and expand the use of electric vehicles throughout the city.
