Toyota has unveiled the 2027 RAV4 lineup, featuring significant updates to its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models. All PHEV variants now come equipped with a built-in NACS charge port, enabling direct access to Tesla Superchargers without the need for an adapter. The system also supports Level 3 DC fast charging and includes an 11 kW onboard AC charger.
The 2027 RAV4 PHEV utilizes Toyota’s sixth-generation system, combining a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors to deliver 321 horsepower. The base SE trim provides an electric-only range of up to 52 miles. The vehicle is available in four trims: SE, XSE, Woodland, and GR Sport, all featuring standard all-wheel drive.
Interior upgrades for the 2027 model include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.5-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims offer a 12.9-inch display and a JBL audio system. Safety is managed by the standard Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 suite, which includes pedestrian detection and radar cruise control.
The Woodland trim features a revised suspension system with new springs and shocks, providing 9.1 inches of ground clearance, along with all-terrain tires and roof rails. The GR Sport trim focuses on performance with tuned steering and suspension components.
Pricing for the 2027 RAV4 HEV starts at $32 300, while the PHEV model begins at $42 100, excluding a $1 595 destination fee. HEV models are scheduled to reach dealerships later this year, with PHEV versions expected to arrive in early 2027.
