Toyota has postponed the launch of the all-electric Highlander. The vehicle was originally scheduled for release in mid-2026, but according to Nikkei Asia, sales may not begin until 2027, representing a delay of 4 to 12 months.

The company decided to allocate more time for additional testing and final adjustments to avoid releasing an unrefined product. Specific technical reasons for the delay have not been disclosed by the company.

The electric Highlander will be the first fully electric version of a model that previously only offered gasoline and hybrid options. Toyota aims to protect the reputation of the brand name.

Based on previously published data, the base front-wheel-drive version of the Highlander EV will have a range of approximately 462 km. A more expensive version with a larger battery will offer a range of over 515 km.
