TikTok has introduced an AI Shopping Assistant and a one-click checkout feature named Buy Direct. These tools were unveiled on October 5, 2026, during Advertising Week in New York City. Both features are part of the company's new Agentic Commerce initiative, which aims to streamline the purchasing process directly within the application.

The AI Shopping Assistant operates in real time, answering user queries regarding product details, shipping, sizing, and availability based on current context. The Buy Direct feature allows users to complete transactions without leaving their feed or brand content. These tools are currently being rolled out to users and brands in the United States.

To support these features, TikTok is collaborating with commerce and payment partners including Salesforce, Shopify, Shoplazza, and Stripe. This launch follows the September 2026 introduction of the Seller Assistant chatbot for merchants. Additionally, the company has released new marketer-facing AI tools, such as Agentic Leads, to further expand its commerce ecosystem.

David Kaufman, the global head of monetization and product partnerships at TikTok, stated that the initiative focuses on using AI to bridge the gap between product discovery and purchase. With these updates, TikTok joins other major platforms like Amazon, Instacart, and Shipt in the industry-wide trend of integrating AI-driven shopping assistants.
