OpenAI reports that ChatGPT now has over 900 million weekly active users, a significant increase from 400 million users recorded a year prior. This shift in user behavior indicates a growing preference for AI-generated answers over traditional search engine results.

The Forrester State Of Business Buying 2026 report, which surveyed nearly 18,000 B2B buyers, reveals that 94% of respondents utilized generative AI in their recent purchase decisions, compared to 89% in the previous year.

Data shows that 55% of buyers compare vendors directly within AI tools, 54% conduct product research there, and 47% use these systems to prepare internal business cases. Consequently, purchasing decisions are often finalized before a prospect visits a company website.

Visibility in AI systems is increasingly tied to English-language content. Microsoft and Common Crawl launched an initiative last year to increase digital content for underrepresented languages, noting that languages like Danish, Finnish, and Swedish each account for less than 0.6% of total web content.
