The Boring Company has successfully closed a Series D funding round, securing $3 billion. This investment, led by entities from the United Arab Emirates, has increased the company's valuation to $23 billion. This figure represents a fourfold increase compared to the company's valuation of $5.675 billion following its Series C round in April 2022, which raised $675 million.
The funding round attracted eight additional investors, including Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Temasek, Vy Capital, Valor Equity Partners, Human Capital, Shamal Holding, and Baron Capital. The capital will be directed toward expanding operations, production, and engineering teams, as well as scaling Loop network projects in Las Vegas, Nashville, and Dubai.
The company is currently developing its 25th tunnel, with 14 of these located in Las Vegas. The Vegas Loop system has served over four million passengers and now includes 123 stations. Internationally, the firm holds a contract with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority for a 6.4-kilometer pilot project, which includes four stations and has already entered the precast production phase.
The Boring Company is also deploying its Prufrock boring platform, which eliminates the need for traditional launch pits and cranes by launching and retrieving from a transporter. The firm currently manages a tunnel partnership covering more than 150 kilometers, marking a transition from a single-system operator to a multi-city infrastructure developer.
