The Boring Company has closed a new funding round with a valuation of approximately $20 billion. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the company's Series C round in 2022, when it was valued at $5.7 billion.

The financing terms included unusual requirements for some investors. Participants were asked to assist in recruiting staff or facilitate introductions to government officials in target cities. Investors unable to meet these obligations risk having their shares bought back by the company.

The company is currently expanding its operations beyond the Las Vegas Loop. It is constructing an underground Loop in Nashville at its own expense and has launched a multi-phase tunnel project in Dubai with the RTA. The Dubai project begins with a four-mile pilot phase estimated at $154 million, with plans to expand to 14 miles.

The Boring Company originally spun out of SpaceX in 2018 to address urban congestion. Its business model relies heavily on securing land access, planning permissions, and regulatory approvals from public authorities before construction can begin.
