Teucrium has postponed the launch of its short XRP ETF for the 19th time. According to a regulatory filing dated September 11, the earliest possible start date for the fund is now set for October 11, 2026. The company has consistently pushed back the launch date since April 4, 2025, without providing specific reasons for the delays in its filings.
The proposed fund is designed to provide twice the daily inverse performance of XRP. It intends to utilize contracts with trading firms to generate returns when the price of the asset drops, rather than holding the underlying cryptocurrency. The strategy, fee structure, and risk disclosures remain unchanged despite the repeated postponements.
While the short ETF remains unavailable, the long version of the fund has been trading on the New York Stock Exchange since April 2025. Ordinary XRP funds have seen significant activity, recording cumulative inflows of $1,70 billion since their launch. Over the past 20 trading days, these funds attracted $190,5 million in capital despite market volatility.
The asset experienced a peak price of $3,65 in July 2025 and currently trades near $1,37, representing a decline of over 60%. Investors seeking a regulated instrument to bet against this downward trend have lacked access to such a product. October 11, 2026, now marks the 20th deadline for the potential commencement of the short ETF.
