The ZET SCALE alliance, founded by Catalyst Mobility and the Smart Freight Centre, has placed an order for 2 500 electric Class 8 trucks. Tesla has been selected as the primary supplier, with Kenworth, Volvo, and RIDE serving as secondary manufacturers.
The alliance aims to eventually deploy more than 10 000 electric trucks. The initial 2 500 vehicles will be distributed across 10 freight hubs in the United States, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Dallas, Chicago, and the New York area, over the next few years.
Financing for the procurement is managed by ZET Financial, which offers a leasing program designed to mitigate residual-value risks for fleet operators. Founding members of the alliance include major shippers such as Microsoft and PepsiCo.
Separately, IMC Logistics announced the addition of 50 Tesla Semis to its California fleet. This order includes both Standard Range models with a 325-mile range and Long Range versions capable of 500 miles, intended for port drayage operations.
