Tesla accidentally revealed images of the Optimus Gen 3 humanoid robot within its official smartphone application. The discovery includes 3D models labeled as gen3, which depict the new unit alongside the previous Gen 2.5 prototype for comparison.

The updated design features a more streamlined body with matte black covers, replacing the exposed mechanical parts seen in earlier versions. Engineers have added flexible protective elements to the joints connecting the torso and upper legs, creating a more integrated appearance.

The robot's hands have undergone significant refinement, building on the previously announced 22 degrees of freedom. While these interface elements have surfaced, Tesla has not yet issued an official announcement regarding the new model.

Elon Musk previously noted in March that the third-generation unit was functional but required further development. The company intends to delay the public design reveal until closer to the start of production to prevent competitors from copying the technology.

Tesla is currently preparing its manufacturing infrastructure for the robot. The company is clearing space at its Fremont facility and constructing a dedicated factory in Texas to support future production efforts.
