Tesla has expanded its Robotaxi service area in Houston, increasing the geofenced zone to approximately 254 square miles. This represents a tenfold increase compared to the initial launch area of 25 square miles established in April.

Despite the expanded territory, the fleet size remains limited. Current data from Robotaxi Tracker indicates there are 34 unsupervised Model Y vehicles operating in the region, an increase from 22 vehicles three months ago.

The company has not yet deployed Cybercab vehicles in the Houston area. The current fleet density equates to approximately one vehicle for every 7.5 square miles within the newly defined service zone.

Tesla continues to restrict its Robotaxi operations to lower-speed roads and avoids complex traffic environments, such as train crossings, citing safety as the primary bottleneck for further expansion.
