Tesla is actively pursuing regulatory approval for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system in Taiwan. The company submitted its initial application in mid-July and participated in a technical review meeting with government officials and experts in September. Following this, Tesla has refined its road testing plan to include diverse environments, ranging from urban centers to rural areas, specifically to test the system against local traffic conditions, including the common mix of cars and motorcycles.

In the Taiwan market, Tesla achieved a significant sales milestone in September 2026, with a total of 18,632 new vehicle registrations year-to-date. This performance secured the company the top spot among electric vehicle brands and the third position across all automotive brands in the region. Tesla currently holds a 75.4% market share in the local electric vehicle segment.

To boost sales in the fourth quarter, Tesla has introduced a zero-down-payment financing option for the Model 3 and Model Y. Alternatively, customers can opt for a monthly payment plan starting at TWD 9,999. These offers can be combined with additional incentives, such as home charging installation packages and a referral program that rewards existing owners with credits for supercharging miles, accessories, or software upgrades.
