Tesla has begun rolling out the FSD v14.3 Lite update to older Model S and Model X vehicles equipped with HW3 hardware and Intel processors. This release marks the first time these specific models have received the distilled FSD branch, which was previously limited to Model 3 and Model Y units.
The update, identified as software package 2026.38.5.1, incorporates improvements from the HW4 version, including enhanced reinforcement learning, better pedestrian detection, and smoother steering. It also addresses issues with traffic light navigation and reduces instances of unnecessary braking on highways.
Despite these improvements, the Intel-based Model S and Model X versions lack several features found in the Model 3 and Model Y counterparts, such as automatic parking, FSD activation while parked, and reverse automation. Additionally, the Halloween mode included in this software package is not supported on Intel-based hardware.
Tesla has confirmed that FSD v14 Lite will be the final major FSD branch for the HW3 platform. The company stated that HW3 hardware lacks the capacity to support unsupervised FSD or the upcoming FSD v15 update. Owners who purchased the FSD package will be offered a hardware upgrade to a more powerful AI chip.
